Changed over from Win 7 to Win 8.1 on a Toshiba Portege R30A, then discovered that I had lost the use of the fingerprint utility (no real help on this on Toshiba support site).
Fingerprint utility refuses to reinstall the same fingers, because 'they are already in use on another account'.
Toshiba provides explanation : fingerprints have been embedded in BIOS under Win 7, must be removed under Win 7.
Strictly no warning about this, before changing over from Win 7 to Win 8.1. No other solution than changing the OS back to Win 7, deleting fingerprints, reinstalling Win 8.1, i.e.several days of hard work before everything is back in order and fine tuned.
Did anybody see this with brands other than Toshiba? Any trick to go delete existing fingerprints in the BIOS without having to go through two additional OS changes?
