Hmm..I read it while killing time waiting for my flight and then on my flight(Coincidentally the story starts in airport). Easy read though childish way of writing. But well, that's what made me give it 3 stars. The story was simple and easy to relate..best friends vs lovers vs best friends as lovers (well, my best friend turned my boyfriend and is now my ex-bf yet my best friend...so yeah man, I could easily relate). The author used his colloquial lingo of school-where everyone tries to play sm...more

This is a tale of two best friends who navigate their way through their teenage years figuring out if they are just best friends or more than that. What they have between them is more than a friendship and little less than a love. Will they ever figure out the thing they share or will remain just friends?
The plot of the story is good but the storytelling could have been better. It was really a tiring read. The cover of the book is attractive and the blurb is intriguing but doesn’t go with the wr

Picking this up wasn’t a bad deal at all. Sumrit has shown good potential with his debut novel JUST FRIENDS – a story that revolves around the friendship between a girl and a boy. The age old question of whether a girl and a guy can be friends seems to be answered almost perfectly by this teenager.
The story is about the two youngsters Aaryan and Tanie and their growing up years in school and hostel. Very relatable instances of the regular bunking, group studying, hostel tantrums, indulging in sp

A very nice book, Just Friends. I don't know if it explains whether a boy and a girl can be just friends or not, but i am sure it explains the bond created between two best friends. A bond which is very strong and ineffable.
P.S: Why does the lead female character always get hit by a truck (not a car or a two wheeler), at the corner of her street?
A SIMPLE BOOK BUT I FEEL A BOY AND GIRL CAN BE REAL FRIENDS WITHOUT BEING IN LOVE

Well, to be frank, I'd say that just friends isn't exactly the kind of book that left me craving for more. I mean from whay I remember I had first read about this book while reading an Indian novel (which wad practically awesome) back in 2011. And now it's 2014. Three months ago, I began reading the book snd three months ago, I finished it. It took me around 5 days (3 more than the usual) to finish it, and no, not because it was extremely boring and

Purchased this book after reading so many reviews but frankly I didn't like the book. Yes, one had to be more patience to read this one like never before. My verdict? Started with 2 stars in between 3 n half stars and ended with 2 stars. Don't go with description. It's not about friendship. It's more about love. There are 2 different love cum friendship stories, aryan's and Tanie's. 3* for aryan's story and 1* for tanie's. Seriously, such a boring story.

Good book. It took some time in the starting to take off, but afterwards its difficult to leave the book midway. The last poem about friendship is awesome rest of them are okok. Quite interesting book which revolves around love & friendship and explaining the difference between the two.

Wow, it might be the first time I'm giving a book even less than a 2 star.
Actual rating : 1.5 stars.
So, you all might have read the blurb and yes it is really catchy but I wish I could say the same for the book. It was nowhere what I thought it would be or what i thought after reading the blurb and also so much brag about author being this and that.
While I do think it had a pretty awesome poetic touch but well, that's it. Nothing else.
No plot.
No story.
No characters.

Good work. Worth reading. The story is about the two youngsters Aaryan and Tanie and their growing up years in school and hostel. Very relatable instances of the regular bunking, group studying, hostel tantrums, indulging in sports, examination fevers, friendships, crushes and first love add flavor and fragrance to his writing. School life is an important part of a person’s life. Those are the days of carelessness and alertness all the same. It somewhat leads you to your path ahead in life. For...more

JUST FRIENDS is a story that revolves around the friendship between a girl and a boy. The same old question – whether a girl and a guy can be just friends is addressed in this book. There are two different stories in this book. We follow Aaryan and Tanie, and learn their stories which are quite similar.
The first story is about how Aaryan, a seventeen-year-old, with lots of ex-girlfriends, from a boarding school in Gurgaon, falls in love with Ishita, a seventeen-year-old from Singapore. He meets

Can a girl and a boy be... Just Friends is divided into two parts, narrated by two different people, which somehow shares a similar plotline. The first one is about Aaryan and Ishita who are distant lovers, and Boza who is Aaryan’s BFF and she eventually falls in love with him.
The second story is about Tania and Sumer with their respective partners Rehaan and Liaka which has the same twist of Lovers Vs Friends Vs Lovers Vs Best friend.
Both the stories connect when two people (Tania and Aaryan)

If you want to spend some 'me' time reading a book? or if you are in a relaxing mood , then you can grab a copy of this book and read it sipping coffee or tea. Can a Girl and a Boy Be Just Friends ? revolves around a question which is time and again asked by the society. The answers to this question is almost always segmented into two halves. While the youth believe in the fact that they can remain just friends with the opposite sex, the elders think it otherwise. Here too, guided by personal in...more

My first book and I loved it... Shahi's writing is so simple and easy to understand for any first-timer. A great gift!!
This book delves on a very familiar topic- that of friendship v/s love. Though scores of books have been written on this, it is the presentation that makes a difference. Unfortunately, 'Just Friends' fails horribly on that front. A story about spoiled rich brats may not be bad per-se. But page after page of conversation without moving the actual story forward irritates the reader badly. The only saving grace is the last few pages, which is surprisingly dignified and well-handled. The extra star...more

Can A Girl And A Boy Be…Just Friends? by Sumrit Shahi is a breezy read that will remind the readers of their high school days.
In this book, the author tenderly dealt with the question that we all might have pondered on, at some point in our lives. Young people, especially teenagers find it hard to distinguish between love and friendship. They often find it confusing to differentiate between platonic love and romantic love. Therefore, this book will appeal to young people just for the curiosity t

Sumer and Tanie. They are seriously the type of friends everyone wishes for from going shopping together to crying together when their heart breaks.
The story begins with both of them meeting in 10th grade and how in the next 10 years their feelings for each other change, where Sumer starts liking her and she thinks they are “just friends”. Sumer then convinces himself to move on. Still they both stay together and help each other out. (Totally sweet!)

The story takes time to draw the reader in, but settles down once it jumps into flashback. So impatient readers will need to give it a second chance.
The writer's seemingly favorite line ‘She laughed. He laughed. Problem solved’ is used far too much. He continues using it in his second book. So that is a little annoying at times.
The ending was disappointing. Not with respect to the story, but with writing. It seemed like the writer was in a hurry to finish off his book. Everything happened too su

I read it during my short duration of interest in Indian authors. If you love reading indian writings, then i suggest you take this up. Comprising of two endearing stories about the complicated friendship between boys and girls, Just Friends is a bit exaggerated and unrealistic, but is thought provoking as you finish it. The book is different because it does not have an engineering background, a relief!, it provides spaces for the characters of both the sexes to develop instead of focusing on on...more

It WAS a ok kind of book .... NOT REALLY INTO FRIENDS TURNED LOVERS stuff atleast not according to or after reading this book.
nothing that special as I expected it to be.....
at starting it seems like they are just stretching the story ... but it is turning at some places...... but not that much that we can really love the book.....
all though I really like the story of Boza and Aaryan .... and specially the shocking thing that he tells about them at the end......
while the story of Sumer and Tammi

The story can be divided into two parts, each half narrated by two different persons of two different sexes of two different places, but both of them have their similar stories. After reading the book, I don't think that the book actually answers the question it poses on the cover page itself, but it sure shows how the bond between a boy and I girl is created, disturbed, and strengthened to form something more. More than Just Friends.
(Isn't it ironical that I finished the book on Rakhi?)
well, the title and theme was and still does sound pretty clichéd, but I decided to give it a shot all the same... and im still not sure whether to recommend the book to others or not.. the plot is pretty good.. but the storyline drags along at a snail's pace, and yes I have to admit, at times I did sigh and just close the book in exasperation! but... the book is over all OKAY I guess... if you are up for long and yes romantic-ish yet filled with adolescent perverted perks and jerks, then go ahe...more
