Map

Sunshine Autos, also known as the Sun Yard, is a car showroom in Vice City. Located just south of Little Havana, it is featured in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and its prequel, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories.

Description

In GTA Vice City Stories, circa 1984, Sunshine Autos is a small dealership located close to a trailer park, with a new showroom under construction next to it.

By 1986, the new showroom has been completed, with the old dealership demolished and the trailer park cleared. The dealership is bought by retired footballer BJ Smith and renamed BJ's Used Autos. However, Smith quickly runs into financial difficulties and the police begin to monitor his activities, so Smith sells the dealership to Tommy Vercetti for $50,000. Once purchased by Vercetti, the dealership reverts to its original name. Vercetti uses the showroom to sell stolen cars from four lists. Once all the requested vehicles have been retrieved, the business generates an income of $9,000.

Landscape Features

In 1986, Sunshine Autos features a modern two-floor showroom. Outside the showroom, a ramp leads down to four two-car garages, an import garage and a Spray'n'go shop (the only such establishment in the city). Next to the import garage is a map detailing street races located across the city.

The showroom site crosses the border of two districts. The showroom itself is in Viceport but the garages are located in Little Havana.

The Sunshine Autos Import Garage is a side mission for the Sunshine Autos asset in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City which is located underground within the A+B Auto garage which is near the Vice Street Racer race selection map, to the right when traveling down the main Sunshine Autos ramp. The garage becomes available for importing vehicles after Sunshine Autos is purchased by the player. The garage will only open when you arrive at the door with a needed car on the current list and the garage becomes inaccessible when all lists have been completed. Four lists to complete of wanted vehicles will be posted to the right of the garage door and each vehicle imported successfully will redline that list. Completing the first list will acquire the asset to progress through the story, award a prize vehicle in the showroom and provide income. Completion of all four lists is required to achieve 100% completion.

Notes

  • Purchase of the Cherry Popper Ice Cream Factory is required in order to spawn a Mr. Whoopee., meaning List 4 can be only be completed after the factory is bought. If the player hasn't bought the factory, income from completion of the first three lists can provide the money needed to buy the factory.
  • All vehicles placed into the import garage will vanish when the garage door closes, whether or not they are on the list.
  • Nearby are four storage bays with a capacity of eight total vehicles. They are useful to temporarily keep upcoming cars for the next list.
  • Unlike in III, the player cannot enter the garage after obtaining all cars, and will be permanently shut after completing the side quest.
  • The first list is usually the most difficult to complete, as all the cars in the other three lists can be found parked in specific areas and the remaining three lists are thus easier to complete, while the player usually has to wait for the cars in the first list (excluding the Landstalker) to be randomly driven in the street and then steal them separately. The game also makes them rarer to spawn once the process is initiated.

Tips

  • Drive similar class cars. If the player has trouble finding a particular vehicle, try to drive a vehicle of the same class to make it spawn more frequently. For example, if the player is searching for an Idaho and is having trouble finding it, try to drive around in an Esperanto. Since they are in the same class and the game tends to spawn the same class of vehicle the player is driving, finding the Idaho should be easier.
  • A player can scout early then deliver listed imports instantly from their collection if they write down or otherwise remember all of these listed cars in advance. Should a car spawn during regular game play it can be acquired and stored in any safehouse garage in preparation for the Sunshine Autos purchase. The Hyman Condo is highly recommended since its three garages have a capacity of eight cars.
  • The game tends to spawn less wanted cars when it's active, so it's recommended to memorize the list and try to save them before their list becomes active. Try to look for cars that don't have fixed spawn points first.
  • The player can also just walk around the road outside Sunshine Autos and chances are the vehicle wanted in the list may spawn driving on the road, just steal the particular vehicle and deliver it to the garage.
  • Damage done to the car not affect payout in anyways.
